Being my first post here, it's probably a bit awkward. I don't really know what to say. xD

I finally got to go this past weekend. Pirate weekend, of course. I really enjoyed "Bunnies in Peril," as far as the "new" shows go. They made me laugh. It was too rainy and slippery to see Daniel, Duke of Danger when I was there, but he's a long-time favourite of mine. And the Mudde Showe. My all-time favourite. ^____^

I've finally gotten a proper costume this year. My grandmother assisted me in making the skirt and blouse, and I ordered a wonderful bodice. ^_^

I will be attending again for closing weekend on October 21st, which happens to be my birthday. ^__^ Perhaps I'll see someone there? Not that I'd particularly -know- any of you. xD

To introduce myself, my name is Tangela, but I'm called Jinx by a good few of my friends. I'm 22, turning 23 next month. I've been attending the Ren Faire for about 5 years now, and for me it's like going to Disney World is for a little kid. I always hate having to leave.

Anyhow, I'll shut up now. I'm boring you. xD

After reading an alarming post by loverofdragons, I contacted the staff at the Ohio Renaissance Festival. This is the exact text copied from the e-mail I just received:

Hi Rachel,

It IS just a rumor so please correct anyone who mistakenly makes this statement in front of you. The truth is that there is not even any ownership change; the same man who has owned and operated this festival since it’s beginning 17 years ago, still does. What he has done is purchase ADDITIONAL property adjacent to the festival property and is developing it for residential homes. So many people mistakenly assume that the housing development is replacing the festival and it is NOT.

It is true that we only did the British Isles Festival for 2 years because it is very expensive to operate a quality festival and if you don’t have enough people attending to cover your expenses, you just can’t financially continue to do that.

We are definitely planning a Renaissance Festival for 2007 and many more years to come, so set the people straight who have heard otherwise.

Thanks,
Amy Zimmer, Office Manager

Subject: Question About The Renaissance Festival

Hello, my name is Rachel Mills. I have been coming to the Ohio Renaissance Festival for 6 years now. I just heard an alarming rumor that this will be the last year for the festival due to a land ownership change. I understand that the British Isles Festival that used to be held in June (?) on the festival grounds was discontinued due to monetary reasons (?) and I am afraid that the yearly Renaissance festival will be forever canceled as well.

Please return my e-mail with an answer of some kind. I want to be assured that this is either just a rumor or reality. Thank you for your time.

Rachel Mills

Ok I have some REALLY bad news to post. My mom ran into some people she used to talk to all the time when I was little. They now live in Wilmington near faire. They told my mom that the land was sold along with some land that is attached to faire land (but not owned by the guy who owns faire) to a land developer. According to these people this year, 2006, is our last year for a Renaissance Festival! So unless someone knows the guy who bought the land and can tell me I'm wrong, we will no longer have a festival to go to.
